The focus is on Entrepreneurship, Business Renewal and Internationalisation, areas in which JIBS has become a leading institution in a very short time.JIBS aims at being an innovative, globally interactive business school. Its vision is to become the leading research and education centre in Europe within the fields of entrepreneurship and business renewal.

We therefore offer a research environment which encourages, sometimes even requires, working over disciplinary boundaries. This makes research more relevant and strengthens our footing in the real world. We are also active partners in several international networks, which means that we participate and initiate in international research projects.
JIBS conduct doctoral studies in five different subjects: Business Administration, Economics, Informatics, Law, and Statistics.
Jönköping University aims at achieving excellence in a limited number of select areas. For example, since the opening of Jönköping International Business School (JIBS) in 1994, entrepreneurship and business renewal has been a top priority. The achievement of excellence in entrepreneurship is manifested in numerous ways. All students take entrepreneurship classes, which has contributed to Jönköping University’s business incubator being one of the most active and successful in the country. Research at the highest international level was rapidly established.
Thanks to the focused effort we are today a national leader and one of the internationally most recognized actors in the field of entrepreneurship. An examination of research output in scholarly entrepreneurship journals showed that Jönköping University publishes more frequently than other Swedish universities and comes out as one of the top schools in Europe.
Our unique research environment can therefore provide the international research community with high quality research and researchers; other Swedish business schools with sound, quality-enhancing competition, cooperation and/or inspiring role modeling, and practitioners at firm, regional and national levels with knowledge promoting economic development.
