Research
Friederike Welter’s main research interests are related to entrepreneurship and small business development and entrepreneurial behaviour in different regional contexts, women’s entrepreneurship and support policies. Recent publications include edited volumes on entrepreneurship and trust (2005) and on enterprising women in a transition context (2006) and a book, co-authored with David Smallbone, on entrepreneurship in Central and Eastern Europe (2008). Together with Candida Brush and Anne De Bruin she was guest editor for two special issues on women’s entrepreneurship published in 2006 and 2007 by Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice. With Frank Lasch, she edited a special issue of ET&P on European entrepreneurship research (2008).

Biography
Friederike Welter is Professor at JIBS and CISEG. Before she joined JIBS fulltime, she was Professor of Small Business Management and Entrepreneurship at the University of Siegen from 2005-2008. She has been affiliated to JIBS since 2004, and she also is visiting professor at the Small Business Research Centre at Kingston University in Kingston, UK. In 2005, she was awarded the TeliaSonera Professorship of Entrepreneurship at the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga, Latvia for her research on entrepreneurship in a transition context. From 2007-2009, she is President of the European Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (www.ecsb.org).
