All programmes offered to international students are taught entirely in English.
Tuition-fee?
From August 2011 Swedish universities, including JIBS, will introduce tuition fees for students from outside of the EU/EEA (and Switzerland).
Students who will pay tuition fees:
- Fees will be introduced only for students from outside of the EU/EEA
- Fees will apply to undergraduate and graduate courses and programmes (i.e. Bachelor’s and Master’s level courses and programmes).
- Fees will be introduced for students starting a programme in August 2011 and onwards.
Students who will not pay tuition fees:
- Students from within the EU/EEA will not be charged fees.
- Exchange students (from all countries) will not be charged tuition fees.
- Students who have already started a studying before fees are introduced, will not be expected to pay fees when they are introduced. For example, if you begin a two-year programme in 2010, you will be able to complete your studies without paying fees.

What are the admission requirements for undergraduate studies?
All students, both international and Swedish, must fulfill the general admission and specific admission requirements for the programme to which they are applying to be admitted to JIBS. For bachelor studies, the selection is made on high school/upper secondary school results. A high school diploma is required which entitles the student to university studies in his/her home country.
English proficiency, English proficiency, see below.
The documents must be issued in the original language and in officially certified translations in Swedish or English, if the documents are not originally in one of these two languages. All documents and copies must be certified by a notary public. Jönköping University may check the authenticity of documents with the issuing school.
Please note that diplomas and transcripts from Polytechnic schools are not accepted for university studies in Sweden.
When do I have to be finished with my high school studies?
ONLY for applicants with a citizenship or permanent residence in an EU/ EEA country,USA, Canada, Australia, New Zeeland:
The application must be sent in by April 15, 2010.
Deadline for submitting documents: July 2, 2010
Applicants from all other countries:
The application must be sent in by January 15, 2010
Transcripts and high school diploma can be sent until February 1, 2010.
TOEFL/IELTS test result can be sent until March 1, 2010
Shall I send in my CV or motivation letter?
No, we will only look at your High School diploma, transcripts and English proficiency.
What are certified copies?
Your high school diploma with transcripts MUST be certified and stamped by an official authority in your country, such as a notary public.
What are the language requirements?
English proficiency: Go to Language Requirements
It is recommended that one starts the procedure of sitting for the tests as soon as possible, since this may be long to carry out depending on when the test center offer opportunities to write.
The TOEFL and Cambridge/Oxford test results must come from the test centre directly to the admissions office.
A copy of the IELTS test result is enough.
*The test result can’t be older than two years.
How do I proceed to take the necessary tests?
TOEFL: See http://www.ets.org/ JIBS code is 8487 (only for bachelor programmes)
IELTS: See http://www.ielts.org/ There is no code but JIBS’s name and address must be indicated when applying to sit for a test.
Does my TOEFL/IELTS score count in the overall evaluation?
There is a keen competition to to a limited number of places. A language test score can thus be taken into account when an overall evaluation between students’ competitiveness must be considered.

Can I send certified copies of my TOEFL/IELTS tests?
Not for TOEFL and Cambridge/Oxford, originals must be sent to the Admissions Office by the test centre.

The test scores will thus reach the Admissions Office directly and can be received up to April 15, 2010 for applicants with a citizenship or permanent residence in an EU/ EEA country, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zeeland and March 1, 2010 for applicants from all other countries.
Can I send in documentation after the application deadline?
No
Applicants with a citizenship or permanent residence in an EU/ EEA country,USA, Canada, Australia, New Zeeland can complete their application by latest July 2, 2010. .
Applicants from all other countries must complete their application by latest February 1, 2010. TOEFL/IELTS test result can be sent until March 1, 2010
Applications must be sent by the applicant and not through intermediates.
Can I send in documentation by fax, e-mail, or electronically scanned
No. Applications sent by fax, e-mail, or electronically scanned will not be accepted.
The applicant must sign the application form and send all certified application documents by post.

Can I transfer any courses/credits?
No. You must apply to and start a whole programme from the beginning. It can be possible to transfer courses/credits when you have started a programme.
When does the academic year start?
All students are expected to arrive during the weekend preceding the induction week, which starts in late August 2010. It is important for the students to arrive during this period when a pick-up service and accommodation distribution are available. On the first day there is a roll-call and you will be introduced to the school and your fellow students. You will receive vital information about your studies, and some compulsory computer workshops will take place during the induction week.
Are there any scholarships available?
We don’t have any tuition-fees at JIBS so there are no scholarships available to bachelor studies. JIBS cannot offer on campus jobs.
How much money do I need for living costs?
Students pay for housing, literature, and other living expenses themselves. These costs are estimated to be about SEK 7000 a month. Students from outside EU must obtain a student VISA, in which they can show that they can pay for their living expenses in Sweden during their studies. Look further at www.migrationsverket.se
How can I get accommodation?
The university guarantees accommodation to international students who have been accepted to JIBS and apply for accommodation before the accommodation application deadline. Rent can be in the range between 2.000 to 3.500 SEK per month depending on location, size, furniture, etc. The rent usually includes electricity, heating, and water. Telephone installation is charged extra. Some apartments might be unfurnished. The quality of housing varies significantly. Available housing is distributed on a “first come, first serve” basis. Be also aware that due to the amount of international students at JIBS you may first receive a temporary housing for the first weeks until permanent housing can be found for you. The temporary housing costs are approximately the same as the costs of the permanent housing.
Do I need to know Swedish?
No. All instructions is done in English, and all JIBS correspondence to students is done in English. English is JIBS language. Within Jönköping and Sweden most people speak English very well. However, it is recommended that students who may want to work and live in Sweden after their studies learn some Swedish.
JIBS provide Swedish courses for our International students. A course starts in the second half of the first semester. It’s also tuition-free.
May I work part-time while doing my studies?
If you are a full-time student you may work in Sweden without a work permit for the period of your student visa. For more information see www.migrationsverket.se.
JIBS cannot answer any questions about residence permits, visas etc.
