Business and IT Management 180 ECTS credits

Bachelor level

In the process of developing of program portfolio we will stop the 2010 intake on the Business and IT Management. For the program portfolio 2011 there will be an even stronger set of program offerings also leveraging the important links between business and ICT.


Today all businesses depend on IT to be competitive.

Business and IT Management combines IT and business to make you familiar with business development and IT development– both on a managerial level and on a practical development level.

You have an interest in business administration, business making and/or IT and realizes that IT is essential in making companies act efficiently.

Content
The programme comprises three years of full time studies and leads to a Bachelor of Science in Business Informatics. The degree is internationally recognized which enables work as well as further studies in Sweden as well as abroad.

The studies are performed in English with Swedish students together with international students. All students are encouraged to accept the offer to study one or two semester at one of our more than 200 partner universities all over the world.

To bring the education close to reality, you are during your study connected to one of our host companies where you on a regular basis during the first two years visit and practice in the reality. The education relies on problem based learning.

Principles of study:
Year 1 fundaments
During the first year, the study gives you a fundamental understanding of both the business area and the IT area. You are also taking courses in English to give you good presumptions to study in English.
Year 2 improved knowledge
During year two your knowledge within IT, business use of IT and business administration are improved.
Year 3 Excellence and management of IT
During the last year you will write a bachelor thesis (15ECTS credits). You will also study courses focusing on applications, investments and procurement of IT solutions and on management of IT related issues.

Career prospects

After fulfillment of the program you are well prepared to participate in development projects where business or IT systems are improved. The labour market asks for you who have business and IT competence.

After the studies you can have the role as designer of the development eg. Business processes, databases and information systems. Another role is the procurement officer which mean you will work with requirement specification and procurement of IT solutions.

The programme prepares for tasks on a managerial level where one example is IT-controller, which means qualified work whit control and management of IT projects. Yet another possible task is to evaluate future investments from a long term and strategic perspective. Those tasks are often within the responsibilities of the Chief Information Officer (CIO).

The programme is constructed to give you a good start on an international career.
