Accommodation

International students may either find accommodation on their own or apply through the university system. We strongly recommend that students apply through the university system to ensure that they secure accommodation. It can be difficult to find accommodation in Jönköping on one’s own.

The university does not own housing facilities itself but rents apartments and rooms from the city and private housing companies. Foreign students apply for housing with the university system through the university’s central administration services. The current accommodation co-ordinator is Carina Hedfors. Rent can range approximately from 1800 to 3000 SEK per month depending on location, size, furniture, etc. The rent usually includes electricity, heating, and water. Telephone installation is charged extra.

The university guarantees accommodation to international students who have been accepted to JIBS and apply for accommodation before the accommodation application deadline.

The application for accommodation for international students should be done on-line at the accommodation site of Jönköping University.

In order to have accommodation guaranteed, all international students are required as well to register their arrival information even if they do not arrive during the arrival dates and/or do not require the pick-up service.

Arrival information
The arrival information must be registered on-line at the same site where students apply for accommodation.

Pick-up service
JIBS offers pick-up service for students arriving to Jönköping during the “arrival dates”. In order to organize the pick up service students should register their arrival information at the site at the site of Jönköping University or go directly to the site where students apply for accommodation.

Students from Entré (International student association) will meet students arriving during the arrival dates at the Jönköping airport, bus and rail station and take them to their accommodation. The pick-up service is NOT offered for students arriving outside the arrival dates.
