Language Requirements

Language Requirements for International Degree-seeking Students
The language of study is English.  All applicants are required to meet the standard English Language requirements corresponding to English B in the Swedish upper secondary school. The following minimum scores are the standard we require:

- TOEFL: with a minimum score of at least 550 with at least 4,0 in “Written test (TWE)” (paper based), 213 with at least 4,0 in “Essay Rating” (computer-based) or 79 with at least 17 in “Written test (TWE)”  (Internet-based).

- IELTS: with an overall band score of 6.0 and no part under 5.

- Cambridge/Oxford (Advanced or Proficiency)

*The test result can’t be older than two years.

English language test waivers may be given under the conditions outlined below.

- Applicants with an upper secondary degree where English is the only language of instruction. Evidence must be provided showing the student’s upper secondary tutoring language.

- Applicants with a Bachelor degree from a university where English is the only language of instruction, in accordance with the recommendations in the last edition of International Handbook of Universities.

- Applicants from the European Union and European Economic Area countries. Evidence must be provided showing that the student’s upper secondary English education is equivalent to English B in the Swedish upper secondary school.

Exchange students
All international exchange students must receive a signature from a representative of their home university guaranteeing their fluency in English. Although the TOEFL score is not a formal requirement, all students must have the equivalence of a TOEFL score of at least 550 (paper-based), and 213 (computer-based), and 79 (internet-based).
