Arrival in Jönköping

The Academic Year
In general the academic year runs from the middle of August to mid-January for the autumn semester and from mid-January to the beginning of June for the spring term. The Christmas break is normally around two to three weeks, which is followed by the examination period in January.
International students who are NOT returning to JIBS for the spring semester and whose studies begin in early January at their home university may return home before Christmas (but not before Dec. 22) and take their exams scheduled in January at their home university. This must also be approved in advance by the home university. Students would write the examinations at their home university on the same day it is scheduled at JIBS. It is not possible for international students to take JIBS’s exams at their home university at any other time of the year for whatever reason.

Induction week
During the first week of every semester, JIBS organises an induction week for the international students, which is obligatory. This week contains a number of activities such as an introduction to the Swedish language and culture, study visits, presentations of the student unions, and other important organizations at the school. During this week you will also receive the computer driver license (email, login, etc.) and an introduction to the library.

Arrival information
In order to have accommodation guaranteed, all international students are required to register their arrival information even if they do not arrive during the arrival dates and/or do not require the pick-up service.

The arrival information must be registered on-line at the same site where students apply for accommodation.

Pick-up service
JIBS guarantees pick-up service for students arriving to Jönköping during the “arrival dates”. In order to organize the pick-up service students should register their arrival information at the following site:

www.hj.se/forms/acco_login.php?returnto=/forms/acco.php which is the same site where students apply for accommodation.

Students from Entré (International student association) will meet students arriving during the arrival dates at the Jönköping airport, bus and rail station and take them to their accommodation. The pick-up service is NOT guaranteed for students arriving outside the arrival dates.

Registration of courses
During the induction week upon your arrival at JIBS you will revise and finalise your choice of courses and will be given instructions about the registration process.
