Leif Melin
Biography
Leif Melin has a Master of Political Science from Lund University and took his PhD in Industrial Marketing at Linköping Institute of Technology, Linköping University in 1977. The thesis work included in-depth case studies of purchasing strategies in large Swedish business firms. In 1988 he was appointed professor of Strategic Management at Linköping University, where he led the Strategic Change Research Group, a group of ten researchers focusing strategic change processes in different organisations. His own research included studies of strategic leadership and the strategist's way-of-thinking as well as different patterns of internationalisation processes for Scandinavian business firms. He has published research results in journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Long Range Planning and International Studies in Management and Organisation and in the book series Advances in Strategic Management and Advances in International Marketing. He is in the editorial boards of Organization Studies, Strategic Management Journal, British Journal of Management, and Organization.
He is Professor of Management at Jönköping International Business School since September 1994, where he is conducting research on corporate entrepreneurship, strategic change and corporate governance in SMEs, the dynamics of family business, the rhetoric's of leadership, and the new network form in organizations.
